Hava Bektaş, PhD Associate Professor of Biophysics Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Medicine Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Van, Türkiye
Hava Bektaş, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Biophysics in the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Medicine, at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in Van, Türkiye. Her research examines the biological effects of radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields through human, in vitro, and animal studies, focusing on oxidative stress, neurobiology, reproductive health, and cancer-related mechanisms. Her published work includes studies using 3.5 GHz exposure models relevant to 5G, as well as human exposure studies involving pregnant women, placental tissue, and cord blood.
Dr. Bektaş earned her PhD in Biophysics from Dicle University’s Institute of Health Sciences in 2017. Her doctoral thesis, Investigation of oxidative stress, protein oxidation, and DNA damage in placenta and cord blood of pregnant women exposed to RF radiation, examined these biological endpoints in relation to RF exposure during pregnancy.
She earned an MSc in Biophysics from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University’s Institute of Health Sciences in 2012. Her thesis, Effects of tibolone on biomechanical properties of bone in ovariectomized rats, investigated how tibolone affected bone’s biomechanical properties in rats whose ovaries had been surgically removed.
She also earned an MSc in Physics from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University’s Institute of Science in 2011. Her thesis was titled Thermoelectric and Nernst–Ettingshausen effects in magnetic semiconductors.
She received her BSc in Physics from Ege University’s Faculty of Science in 2000.
Dr. Bektaş served as a research assistant in Van Yüzüncü Yıl University’s Department of Biophysics from 2012 to 2021 and has held the position of associate professor there since 2021.
