Don Maisch has been directly involved in standard setting specific to the health effects from exposure to electromagnetic radiation (EMR) since 1993, initially as a researcher for Australian Democrats Senator Robert Bell and later for the Consumers Federation of Australia (CFA). He has served on the Standards Australia committee for telecommunications EMR exposure standards. In 2010 he received a Ph.D. from the University of Wollongong for his thesis on conflict of interest and bias in telecommunications standard setting.
He has been a member of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) since 1999 and has published several papers in the ACNEM Journal on various health aspects of EMR exposure, especially on the link between chronic fatigue syndrome and electromagnetic radiation exposure.
