Joel M. Moskowitz, M.A., Ph.D., has directed the Center for Family and Community Health in the School of Public Health at the University of California, Berkeley since 1993. For two decades, he directed the Prevention Research Center at UC Berkeley which was funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He has published more than seventy papers on health promotion and disease prevention research and has served as a peer reviewer for more than forty professional journals.
In 2009, Dr. Moskowitz was the senior author on a hallmark paper reviewing the research on mobile phone use and tumor risk published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He and his colleagues updated this meta-analysis in a paper published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health in 2020. He coordinated the U.S. site and was co-author of a six-nation study of outdoor exposures to radiofrequency radiation published in 2018 in Environment International.
Dr. Moskowitz has translated and disseminated research on the biologic and health effects research of wireless radiation through his Electromagnetic Radiation Safety website (https://saferemr.com) which has had more than three million page views since 2013. Since 2009 he has served as a resource for hundreds of journalists who have published news articles on wireless radiation and health.
Dr. Moskowitz serves as a scientific advisor to Physicians for Safe Technology the International EMF Scientist Appeal, and the International Commission on Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields (ICBE-EMF).
